What is Region D?

Who are we?

In Finland, Junior Chambers International (JCI) is divided into four regions to ensure the efficiency and service capacity of local chambers. There are 64 local chambers in Finland. Region D is geographically the largest regional organization within JCI Finland, consisting of 14 chambers and over 900 members, associate members, honorary members, and senators. Despite the long distances, Region D is known for its warm atmosphere and strong sense of community. The unique Dee Song is recognized everywhere!

Region D is led by a Regional Board, elected in regional elections, supported by invited officers appointed by the board. Together, they form the regional team (aluetiimi), serving a one-year term. Regional officers typically come from local chambers in the area and are often former presidents of their respective chambers. The primary role of the regional team is to support local chambers by, for example, training the officers of local chamber boards. Region D also provides training for local chamber presidents and vice presidents, forming part of JCI Finland’s 3LED Leadership Pathway. The region’s activities are guided by a four-year strategy, which includes a set of metrics to monitor progress. You can read more about the strategy here.

What does the regional team do?

The regional team holds monthly meetings and organizes training sessions and workshops to support the activities of local chambers. The region also hosts themed Dee Moments (Deehetket) in collaboration with its partners. Additionally, regional team members frequently visit local chambers, with each chamber being assigned its own mentor (kamarikummi) from the regional team.

Organizes Events:
  • Supports local chambers in organizing regional conferences.
  • Hosts the regional kick-off event in January at Jauhovuori for local chamber presidents.
  • Holds the Regional Summer Academy in late summer for current and incoming local chamber presidents.
  • Organizes Dee Moments for Region D members and associate members.
Supports Chambers:
  • Offers chamber coaching (Kamarisparraamo).
  • Provides mentor support through the kummitoiminta program.
  • Brings together local chamber contributors into teams based on sub-regions.

And much more!
